Agnondas troubles
March 18, 2013 by skopelosnews
These are some photos of the damage done by the Express Pegasus to the docking area at Agnondas. The port is now closed to ferries but may be open to the Flying Cats. The damage obviously needs to be repaired but when and how. In the meantime what happens in bad weather (strong North winds) when Skopelos port is inaccessible? Express Pegasus is too big for Loutraki.
The photo above shows that the Flying Cat docking area (beyond the disrupted area) appears to be undamaged.

Slight correction – the damage was not one by Pegasus. The quay started slipping a couple of years ago, but two days of strong westerlies recently has now made it much worse and quite unsafe.
That the weather can be blamed for such damage makes you wonder about the engineering and construction and oversight when the work was originally done. It is not as if Agnondas is constantly battered by high winds and seas.
Tom, could not agree more
So what about the reports that Pegasus had collided with the harbour at Agnondas and needed repairs ?

That does look like collateral damage rather than subsidence …
Yes, she did collide, but not in that particular spot. All ferries have been mooring to the seaward side. This damaged area has been roped off for some time, certainly all of last summer. Until the westerlies last week it wasn’t as bad as it is now and people and vehicles were able to go behind with out any drama. Personally, I think the ban of ferries in Agnondas is a bit of overkill – but
I’m not an engineer
Agnondas not shipshape. No stern warning for captain as ferrietale continues.
