The ΧωΧαρουΠα toy and book store – their choice of upper and lower case there, by the way – has now opened on the lane from Platanos square to the post office. While the focus is indeed on children’s books and toys – although we took a covetous shine to a Greek edition of Trivial Pursuit – it also stocks Greek fiction and a small selection of English-language books as well. It probably has the widest range of stationery on the island, as well as a boggling array of party favours and whimsical indulgences you never realized you needed. Although the range of foreign and adult literature is limited, the owners are happy to order titles for customers.

They kept coming

On our way to Agnondas on Saturday we encountered this very big goat herd (about 500 animals) probably from Diamantis and Machi Pachis. Fortunately the traffic on the road was not heavy and we could stop the car and just gaze at the goats that kept coming and coming.

Aroma Cafe

In the old store of Kyria Eleni opposite the Piraeus bank, near the Platanos square a new cafe/store called Aroma Cafe has opened. Rigas Karadi is the owner (from the Enplo cafe) Fresh ground coffee and tea, herbs, cookies and coffee makers can be bought in his store. Καλες δουλειες!
