Faros logoThe island palliative care charity Faros is hosting a talk on ‘Palliative Care in Denmark’ by Danish care worker Mette Andersen at the Orfeas cinema at 6pm this Sunday, 4 October.

Mette has worked as a care specialist in Denmark, Greenland and Norway. As a nurse she has covered various basic fields as well as more specialized ones. She has also worked for many years as a home nurse. Over the past six and a half years she has worked at a hospice in Aarhus, Denmark.

As well as her career as a nurse she has worked as a trained aromatherapist in England. A life-long interest in botany led her to create a sensory garden in the Aarhus hospice. She will be talking about these and other aspects of her work and career. The talk will be in English with a Greek translation.

The sea has shown many different colors in the 10 days since the mighty rains. The brown mud abruptly changes to a light green which suddenly becomes the usual color of the mid-morning Aegean. The sea is slowly returning back to normal like everything else here.

We invite all young and old but also our producers to enhance this year’s Grape Vine Fest “Stafylofest”, in order to establish our annual appointment to promote our exceptional products and our village. The Sporades Islands Foundation for a 3rd consecutive year organizes and strongly supports the success of this event, especially this difficult time, where our rich traditions can be redefined as a solid and reliable ways out of this crisis.
“StafyloFest” will take place in at the Sporades Islands Centre (opposite the Elin petrol station and Kayaking Skopelos) this Saturday October 3 and Sunday, October 4, 2015. In case of rain, the celebration will take place indoors. Admission is free.
