The Panhellenic Seaman Federation has extended its 48 hour strike another 48 hours. Now the strike is scheduled to end at 06:00 am Friday. Vessels important to the Northern Sporades, except Proteus are still docked in Volos and are not going anywhere for the time being.
Check with the ticket issuing offices for more details. 24240-22767 for Flying Cat.
Update at 08.54 hours. Proteus ferryboat has just left Volos. It was supposed to leave at 08.00 hours but there were so many passengers and cars that needed to get on the boat that it took much longer to get them in the ferry. Daphne spoke with somebody on the ferry.
Update at 13:00. The word from the picket line is that Flying Cat 6 will sail today from Volos and return as scheduled tomorrow morning.
New Update – striking PNO (Πανελλήνια Ναυτική Ομοσπονδία) sailors have blocked Flying Cat 6 from leaving today. We received a phone call from Apostolis Kosifis at 13:55 with this new information. He doesn’t know if the boat will be allowed to leave later in the afternoon or not. The situation remains fluid and we will try to keep our readers informed as we learn of changes.
“has extended their”? This is just one more of your single/plural confusions that, frankly, up with I will not put.
And as you seem to have plain run out of full-stops, here are some of mine, for free:
…..
I’m more amused by the headline – which ‘seaman’ is on strike, and should we be supporting him or doing some sort of crowdfunding thing?
john, to whom are you addressing both of your comments, and why?
As one of the troika you could just as easily edit any grammar or punctuation errors which miff you. This might be done is less time than was necessary to construct your witty comments.
Well, Tom, as we appear to be airing dirty linen in public here, I have been correcting grammar and punctuation at SkopelosNews, and for some years. I just thought that a little light-hearted pseudonymous sarcasm might make people think twice before posting texts that make them appear functionally illiterate. Starting sentences in lower case, not knowing where commas go in them, and ending them without full-stops, is just the half of it.
The post that upset you was written in tandem, both Daphne and I were posting as “functional illiterates” as the important ferry strike story developed.
Embarrassing as typos and other dashed off errors might be, we were posting what we thought was information that would help people. Despite the obvious errors we got the point across.
As I suggested before, if the grammar in posts bothers you so much, just sign-in and click the edit button and fix it. You might feel better.
Maybe more care in the initial correspondence may be in order 🙂
