Two of the worst-hit sites in the September storm are edging back towards normality. The jetties at Agnontas took a further pasting from later bad weather, but the Korali restaurant is undergoing major refurbishment – clock that wiring! – and Thanasis at Pablos has told us he is planning to re-open around March 20.
Over the hill at Limnonari, heavy machinery has taken the huge tree-root bole out of the water course that re-opened its route across the beach to the sea, and also retrieved some of the drainage piping that was washed into the sea in the storm. The O Tomas taverna remains inaccessible except across the beach, although there have been discussions with the municipality about works that might see a bridge across the water course. Siga siga, Skopelos is reverting to the island we were on before the rains started after lunch on September 21 last year…
