The Zen-minimalist headline is our honest appraisal of the excellent new ‘bistro’ Μονόγραμμα, ‘Monogram’, named after the poem by Nobel laureate Odysseas Elytis (you can read it in all its splendour here), just around the corner from the church in the upper square in Glossa. Owner-chef Maria Spyrou, who many will know from Skopelos, has devised a clever menu of inventive salads, pizzas, bruschettas and pasta dishes that had our spies drooling on an undercover visit on Sunday. It’s small, with just five tables plus bar seating, but is probably the grooviest place anywhere on Skopelos right now. Glossa is already packing it out lunchtimes and evenings, so if you head there get in early. Get in especially early today, as there’s a wagon train of gannets from Skopelos heading towards it, again, for lunch…
