With a number of restaurants closed for a pre-Easter breather – Klimataria appears to be undergoing a refit, Ta Kymata has stacked the chairs and shut the tenta, although we spotted some activity in the recently-closed Molos yesterday – there are now few places to eat at night on the paralia. After a day or so’s R&R, the SkopelosNews staff canteen – known to mere Earthlings as Gialos – opens for its first evening of 2016 on Wednesday April 20.

We also see preparations underway at Akteion, Diethnis, Nostos and elsewhere, so it seems that normal service will resume shortly.

Gregarious, likely Syriza voters, monogamous and apparently they mate for life

Like the swallows returning to Capistrano, whales crossing oceans on geomagnetic paths and albatrosses that fly tens of thousands of miles without touching land, the mystery of the annual return of flocks of chairs to Diethnis, the ‘international’ bar and restaurant, is again underway. Most are, as our photo shows, roosting under cover before re-appearing in their plumage. Owner Yiannis is still cagey about when Diethnis will re-open, but we suspect it will be open at or just before Easter.
Stop press: As preparations accelerate in the Diethnis tenta, Yiannis relents and tells us he will probably open at the end of this week.
