Last Sunday’s walk by the Skopelos Scramblers was one of the most popular so far, with twenty walkers and three dogs arriving at Carrefour supermarket, much to Muriel’s immediate panic but there were also six cars to take walkers to and from the walk. The retreat of Agios Evstathiou was calm and beautiful, and the group had to pull some walkers from climbing the wall to take part in the retreat.
They did, however, take the final stroll to Agios Giorgios where, behind the chapel, there was a lovely spot to set up a picnic, although the blue tablecloth could hardly contain the abundance of beautiful food offerings – thank you, everyone.
Sunday May 15
This Sunday’s walk will meet at Carrefour supermarket at 10.30am. The group will walk along the old Stafilos road and at roughly the halfway point will cross over towards the main Stafilos road and uphill to the Profitis Ilias church. They will continue along the ridge towards Skopelos and at Spiti Dunlop will take Muriel’s private town path to Spiti Smith, where they are invited to enjoy their shared picnic. A selection of drinks will be available and the most exciting part… a game of boules has been organised with a medal promised for the afternoon’s winner.
All are welcome to join the Skopelos Scramblers walks. For more information phone Muriel Dunlop on 24240 24732.
