You have to take my (Daphne) word for it. Late or not but at last some road works have started in the area of Stafylos and on the way to Raches. Loud drilling noises were heard not far from my house this Saturday morning. The T-junction to Raches was blocked by heavy machinery but this was moved every now and then so cars could pass. A part of the road that has fallen away at the bottom road towards Glysteri is being repaired and after that the work on the road to Raches will start. This is all part of the same job, as the mayor told me this morning when I saw him in town. I fell into the chair next to him and got all the details. What worries the people who live around these roads is whether we will be able to get to town and back every day or if the road will be closed for a couple of days so work can be done. How do we go to work or for shopping? I am thinking about setting up a shuttle service with cars from owners driving people as far as the road works, which you can then pass on foot along the road works, with some cars on the other side of the works so that people can get into town. Any better ideas?
