Glysteri was always a beach/area that was taken care of but since the Kosmas family is not operating there anymore the beach is uncared for. After the flooding in September a part of the road and the beach were swept away. A big hole has opened behind the beach but you can still get to the beach and it is beautiful and quiet. Glysteri beach is on the side of the island that is inundated with flotsam from sea and because nobody is there to collect it the overall image of the beach is not good. Fortunately there are many fervent Glysteri lovers and they take it upon them to clean the beach when they are here on holiday. Jean-Claude and his wife just spent two weeks here and sent us this photo below. Like many other people they love the island in good and bad times and if that means that you have got clean the beach you want to spend time on, you do that. These are real friends of Skopelos and we should cherish them.
