Tomorrow Thursday the 23rd of June the old celebration of St John’s Eve will be held again in Glossa in the area Louki which is at the bottom of the village close to the school. Walk into the village until the first square.
This is the way it goes: The village unmarried village girls will draw water from the fountain in the Louki and – with the aid of jewelry and the torment of keeping silent for an extended period – will ascertain the identity of their future husbands. 100% guaranteed!
Meanwhile, the Mayday garlands that have dried and withered now will be collected, heaped up and set alight. Whereupon intrepid boys and girls will leap over the fire to impress the onlookers or perhaps the previously identified future husband.
Dancing will follow after the event.
