If I (Daphne) post too much about the Skopelos International Film Festival for Youth (SIFFY) you have to let me know but after seeing the small documentary made by our filmmaker Maria Byck I remember again why we organize this festival every year: for the children!
It makes us even more determent to go on because after every film festival we say we will not organize it again because it is very difficult to raise the money, find the filmmakers, organize the whole week. What helps a lot is that we have the most amazing volunteers who feel as strong as we do about this festival.
We keep going because the children meet foreign filmmakers and can practise their language skills, they come in contact with high-tech materials like film cameras, drones, go pro’s etc. They learn to work together, to think out of the box, to be creative, to have an open mind, to improvise, to act, to produce, to organize. They have fun, they meet other children they don’t know and they make friendships.
Please contact Jill Somer if you want to help us. We can use your help! And please watch the movie, it does not take long. Thank you Maria Byck!
