On my way to work I saw this cruise ship coming in. It is one of the bigger ones that we have seen in a while. I will try to find out its name and some more information about passenger capacity etc.
From Martin; Europa 2 maltese flag arrived from Santorini via Skiathos, 225 meters long 516 passengers mostly German I believe and 370 crew.
What are ‘genuine holiday makers’? Does this include tour boats from other islands? 1 euro spent in Skopelos, by cruise passengers, improves the welfare of the residents. Whether we like it or not, we are dependent on tourist income no matter where the scource is.
Cruise ship passengers add very little to the economy of the places they flood for a few hours. The crowds spoil it for genuine holiday makers.
Sorry,I must agree with Mike The island cannot anymore be the plaything of a few We need to generate funds to allow the locals the fascility to carve out a meagre living
We have already lost Mama Mia 2 ,I believe because of unnecessary logistical issues
The only life we have is based on the money of others
100% agree, Good for the local economy.
Jill Jones – why not cruise ships to Skopelos for half a day to boost the local economy ? Do we also throw away the daily tripper boats from Skiathos ?
Lots of passengers coming on land on little orange tenders
MS Europa 2 – one of the most luxurious cruise ships in the world, has been moored off the old harbour of Skiathos.
O no not cruise ships to Skopelos 😟
