Quite a few weddings are being held on Skopelos the last few years and Greece in general seems to be a hotspot for organizing weddings. Civil weddings can be organized almost everywhere on the island and if you have a spot like Amarandos near Agnondas or a beach like Stafylos, Limnonari or Kastani, what else do you want? A church wedding is common for Greek orthodox couples but nowadays many foreign couples take the big step on Skopelos and choose their own venue. Usually the vice mayor will marry them. Below is an example of a couple who married in a church.
The movie was made by Dimitris Pavlidis and the couple that got married are Alexandros and Elisavet. The film was uploaded with Vimeo.

Good morning,
My son George Trakosas, got married in a registry office in Norway, but would like to have a proper service here on Skopelos, because of his Greek heritage. Is it still possible to have one still? Do I speak with the vice mayor about it? How do I get in touch with him.
Yours Sincerely
Helen Brancic
Hi Helen.
If he wishes a church service and he isn’t a Greek citizen there are a number of things he may need to do:
Greek Orthodox Baptism certificate (from church he was baptised in)
A freedom certificate (provided by the Greek Orthodox church to ensure he has not married in a Greek church before)
Baptism certificate of the person he is marrying and if she is Greek she will need to provide the first two also
Discuss this with the Priest as he may need some other things.
