” I have now heard of two cases on the island one in the north and one in Skopelos Town .
So people should be aware that the island has this infection and be careful if they are bitten by a tick and have symptoms ( typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans) they must have a test . If left untreated it can be a very nasty disease”

Lyme disease, if bitten by the wrong species of tick, has been known to be fatal.
As far as I know, There is no known cure.
They are Not a joke.
iNDEED! It’s very nasty disease. If bitten, you need to DESINFECT the area bitten STRAIGHT AWAY and HURRY -no waiting- to the doctor, if indeed the area bitten turns into a red circle like the picture, the doctor will give you antibiotics, there is no vaccination and no other cure and the disease can take years to develop and attacks the nervous system amongst other things with all the consequences you can imagine.
It’s very dangerous to be alive… you can die from it!
