Today is a grey day with rain and heavy winds. The temperature is about five degrees Celsius around Skopelos. Glossa temperatures will be lower. No sign of boats leaving so people might be stuck in Volos. Weather forecasts say the weather is going to calm down and tomorrow will be a much better day.
The meeting point for this week’s walk is Carrefour supermarket at 10.30am, where the scrambling will commence to Stafilos beach. They will walk along the old Stafilos Road and upon reaching the beach the blue tablecloth will be spread for the shared picnic. There will be transport available to take anyone who wishes back to Carrefour, but some walkers will probably walk back to Skopelos town.

The destination for this week’s walk is Milia/Kastani beach. The Scramblers will meet at 10.30am at Carrefour in Skopelos town and then drive in convoy to Ag. Reginos church, which is situated at a high point on the new road crossing the island.
The group will then walk down to Milia beach and, if they feel up to it, will carry on along a shore path to Kastani to share a picnic.
This is a one-way Scramble where transport will be available to take Scramblers back up to the walk’s starting point.
As usual all are welcome to join the Scramblers. Any questions phone Muriel 24240 24732.
The group will meet at the Asklepeion archaeological excavation above the town beach in Skopelos at 10.30am. From there they will walk/scramble up to the Ayia Marina spring above the town. They will then take a break, devouring a shared picnic before taking a beautiful downhill route to Mili village and back to the starting point. Downtown Skopelos will be the final meeting point for coffee and to discuss next week’s walk.
In Panormos road works will start to lay these pipes underground. Perhaps they will be part of the sewage system? Word has it that the sewage from Panormos will now be pumped to Elios and treated there.
And on the Agnontas road going up to Panormos these enigmatic markings appeared on the road. Maybe part of some new works that will get done?
The photos are from Mike, thank you!
This Sunday’s walk will begin at Spiti Dunlop at 10.30am. The group will walk along the ridge above Stafilos Road to Profitis Ilias and after a short break will continue on to the heliport, taking in the magnificent views of Skopelos town on the way. They will then carry on through the forest, crossing the main Stafilos road towards the new oil press. Slightly beyond the press they will take a path towards the sea where there is a beautiful picnic area for Muriel to spread out the blue-checked tablecloth to receive the usual shared picnic essentials.
All are welcome to join the group whether residents or visitors to the island. Any questions phone Muriel on 24240 24732.
