One way to eke out a living is to collect and sell metal – especially iron and steel. The Gypsies have been carrying out this task for a long time all around the world. This photo was taken this morning at Skopelos port. We suppose if you have some (or see some) unwanted ferrous metal you could deposit it here. Click on photo for more details.
Scrap Metal
March 15, 2013 by skopelosnews
The Thessalia news paper reported in January that the “main export products of Thessaly are food (share of 33.8% in 2012), metals (26.6%), clothing products (20.2%) and chemicals – plastics (9.9%). To major markets in the region are Germany (15% share in 2012), Algeria (12%) and Turkey (10%).”
I would guess that a great percentage of the metal exports from Thessaly is scrap metal headed for the Turkish reprocessing plants around the Sea of Marmara.
This is interesting…
